A Great Month for Grants
Monday, June 06, 2016
It was a great fundraising effort this month. On top of the usual collections, VMR Raby Bay received no less than four very generous grants!
Starting out with great success at round two of Andrew Laming’s “Shark Tank” where local not-for-profit organizations pitched ideas for how they would put grant money to good use. The grant we secured at this event will go toward a new training hub to serve VMR units across the Moreton Bay Zone. The very next day Redlands RSL presented VMR Raby Bay with a much appreciated portion of the proceeds from their charity golf day. Next, with a crowd gathered at the Donald Simpson Centre, Christian Porter, Minister for Social Services, awarded us a grant to improve the conditions for our volunteers. Finally, to celebrate the opening of their new Cleveland depot, Energex gave us a donation in addition to their ongoing sponsorship.
We are grateful to all these organizations for their support. With many improvements happening at our base (those you can see and those you can’t) a these donations, and all that we receive, are greatly appreciated and go a long way toward helping us do what we do best – helping boaties and the people of the Redlands, and saving lives at sea.
