VOLUNTEER MARINE RESCUE - SERVING THE COMMUNITY


Australia is a signatory to an international convention obliging us to protect our coastal waters

Australian Maritime Safety Authority control major offshore events

Coastal Waterways fall under the jurisdiction of State Water Police

Our Focus is Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) . Volunteers provide assistance to Water Police to effect search & rescue activities in their local area . VMR also provides radio coverage for vessels operating in the local area . VMR may also respond to requests for assistance directly from boat skippers

Breakdowns . Flat Batteries . Soft Groundings (No Damage) . Insufficient Fuel . Vessels Found Drifting . Dispersal of Ashes

Medical Emergencies (Vessels and Islands) . Vessels Overturned/Sinking . Vessels on Fire . Persons Overboard . Hard Groundings (Damage to the Vessel)

VMR Raby Bay is very much a community organization . Community members working hard to ensure safety of boating public . Keen to develop relationships with other community service organizations

The station is manned from 6am to 6pm Saturday, Sunday and on public holiday.
